Tales from the Labyrinth of Jareth XII

Just as she bit into the sweet fruit gifted to her,
she delicately fell upon the grassy land and
into a deep intoxicating dream.
She dreamt of an elaborate hall full of masked beauty
everywhere the eye could look...of people laughing and dancing.
Yet, she felt lost and desperate to find a familiar face.
She realized then the man who had given her the challenge of a life,
the man who had been most unfair, was her only refuge.
He finally takes her close as she loses herself in the glittery moment.
When all of a sudden the clock strikes and fantasy is shattered by reality.

The above is a little of LOJ's inspiration. If you have never seen the 1980's movie Labyrinth...you must! This masquerade event of the year has been taking place for eleven years now. Each year drawing in more divine creativity than the last. For the past few years they have extended it to two days of breath taking costuming and amazing performances.

I had the wonderful opportunity to go both nights again this year. Below are a couple photographs of this magical weekend.
PLEASE SEE PHOTO ALBUM "LOJ XII" (on our MySpace) FOR THE COMPLETE COMPILATION.
My photos cannot give you the real beauty of it all, but I hope they inspire you to attend next year. Unfortunately, I didn't capture any pictures of the performers except for one. The entertainment keeps getting better and better...it left me in AWE this year.

Comic-Con 2009

Well that time of the year is coming upon us again! Comic-Con International 2009 is just around the corner. And for myself this looks like the first time in about five years that I won't be attending the full run just Friday and Saturday as well as it looks like I won't be working the convention this year. Which means I will have much more time enjoying the convention and the steamy activities this year. What activities you may ask?

-Saturday-
1:00pm-2:00pm
STEAMPUNK MEET-UP
Room 24A
Do you hunger for a past that never was? If your gears are turned by the speculative future of Jules Verne and H. G. Wells, Neo-Victorian, steam, and clockwork then you'll want to check out this meetup. The group will be discussing the Steampunk aesthetic, meet others, share projects and ideas, and discuss this exciting and beautiful culture!

and later that Saturday Night...

Club Deadline and Chrononaut have joined to present:

Anime Expo Steampunk Gathering (Results)

The steampunk gathering was quite enjoyable, when I was finally able to find it. I guess they don't call me Captain Wong Wei for nothing. A big round of applause to all those at the gathering and another for those who embraced the steam throughout the convention. Oh and one more for Fancy India for setting up the gathering.
